The Opportunity

At the University of the Sunshine Coast (UniSC), we are seeking a Senior Planning Lead to drive our campus development initiatives. In this pivotal role, you will take charge of designing, developing, and implementing significant and complex campus development activities across UniSC’s campuses and locations. Your focus will be on master planning, asset development phasing, and land transfer management, ensuring alignment with the University’s future business planning and sustainability goals.

As the Senior Planning Lead, you will lead a team of specialists to achieve these objectives, guiding the integration of planning artefacts into our built environment. Your leadership will play a crucial role in optimising the efficient and sustainable utilisation of UniSC’s physical assets, contributing to the overall success of our strategic objectives.

You will

  • shape the future of UniSC’s campuses by driving major development projects that connect our long-term vision with the built environment, from master planning to asset development and land management;
  • lead expert teams to optimise space, property, leasing, sustainability, and commercial operations, ensuring our campuses evolve to meet the needs of students, staff, and the wider community; and
  • build smarter systems for asset management, introducing innovative digital solutions and strategies that enhance performance and sustainability across UniSC.

About you

You're a strategic and practical leader who understands how to plan and manage physical assets to support UniSC’s long-term vision. With experience in campus development, asset management, and business systems, you know how to balance sustainability, efficiency, and growth. You’re comfortable working with stakeholders, leading teams, and guiding major projects from planning through to delivery. You take a thoughtful approach to problem-solving, always looking for ways to improve processes, enhance spaces, and ensure UniSC’s campuses meet the needs of students, staff, and the wider community.

You will possess:

  • Proven success in leading diverse facilities and business operations, ensuring efficiency and strategic alignment.
  • A strong track record in reviewing business practices, streamlining processes, implementing systems, and driving positive change.
  • Experienced in leading and developing high-performing teams, creating a collaborative and goal-focused work environment.
  • In-depth understanding of statutory requirements, including Workplace Health and Safety regulations and relevant Building Codes.
  • Sharp analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to adapt to new challenges and find creative solutions to complex issues.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence, build credibility, and foster positive relationships with stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of asset management systems and digital technologies that enhance planning and business performance.
