The Opportunity

The casual Senior Financial Services Officer will provide high-level operational support within the Financial Reporting team, contributing to the delivery of accurate and timely financial reporting, reconciliation, taxation, and insurance activities across the University.

This is a hands-on role supporting key financial accounting functions during a busy operational period, ensuring financial processes remain compliant, accurate, and responsive to organisational requirements. You will work closely with internal stakeholders to assist with month-end activities, reporting obligations, and audit requirements while maintaining strong financial governance and control practices.

You will

  • perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations and support month-end and year-end financial close processes, including journals and reporting requirements;
  • assist with taxation compliance activities, including GST and FBT reporting, while maintaining compliance with financial policies and internal controls;
  • provide support with the administration and processing of the University’s insurance activities and preparation of financial reports; and
  • assist with preparation of financial statements and provide supporting documentation for internal and external audit requirements.

About you

Our ideal candidate is a detail-oriented and proactive financial accounting professional with strong reconciliation and reporting capability. You are confident working with financial data, maintaining accuracy under pressure, and supporting the delivery of key financial processes within a collaborative team environment.

You will possess:

  • relevant tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline (or working towards);
  • demonstrated experience in financial accounting, particularly reconciliations and month-end processes;
  • knowledge of taxation requirements, including GST and FBT reporting (desirable);
  • strong attention to detail and analytical skills;
  • proficiency in financial systems and Microsoft Excel;
  • the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines; and
  • strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
