The Opportunity

This is an opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to how the University of the Sunshine Coast manages and grows its financial resources. As Senior Finance Business Partner, you’ll bring your financial expertise and commercial insight to support sound decision-making across the University. You’ll work with financial data to identify opportunities, inform business cases and develop reporting and dashboards that give leaders a clear view of performance, forecasting and future priorities.

You’ll build strong relationships across Finance, IT, analytics and senior leadership, helping to connect financial information with the broader goals of the University. Along the way, you’ll contribute to good financial governance, continuous improvement and the evolution of systems and processes that support a modern, well-managed University.

You will

  • lead budgeting, forecasting, analysis and business modelling, translating complex financial data into clear insights that support decision-making;
  • improve financial reporting and processes to strengthen efficiency, transparency and decision-making; and
  • partner with senior leaders, committees and stakeholders to provide trusted financial advice and shape University outcomes.

About you

We’re looking for a thoughtful and commercially minded finance professional who can turn complex information into clear, practical insights. You’ll build trusted relationships across the University, providing sound advice to colleagues and Executive while supporting strong financial governance. You’ll also look for opportunities to improve reporting, processes and capability, helping connect financial management with UniSC’s priorities and future direction.

You will possess:

  • Expertise in accounting standards, financial management, and high-level analysis.
  • Ability to interpret complex financial data and communicate insights clearly to all audiences.
  • Advanced digital skills, including Microsoft Office, VBA, Power BI, and Power Query.
  • Strong business acumen and leadership, delivering results in complex environments.
  • Experience working independently and collaboratively, managing priorities and meeting deadlines.
  • Excellent relationship-building, influencing, and client-focused communication skills.

Desirable

  • Experience in the higher education sector with an understanding of factors influencing University strategy.
  • CPA qualified (or equivalent).
  • Familiarity with UniSC enterprise systems, including Technology One CiA (Finance) and PeopleSoft (Student, HR & Payroll).
