The Opportunity

Based within the University of the Sunshine Coast’s dynamic Insights and Analytics Unit, this is an exciting opportunity for a detail-oriented and proactive Records Officer to play a key role in supporting best-practice records management across the University. In this role, you will provide specialist advice, operational support, and training to staff, ensuring compliance with records management legislation and contributing to the continuous improvement of systems and practices that underpin UniSC’s information governance.

Working closely with the Manager, Records Management, and teams across the University, you’ll deliver tailored guidance, assist with both digital and physical records handling, and support staff in their use of UniSC’s records management systems. This is a great opportunity to help shape a culture of effective information management in a growing, future-focused university.

You will:

  • provide records management advice, training, and support across the University community;
  • manage operational tasks including classification, retrieval, and disposal of records; and
  • support the use and continuous improvement of UniSC’s records management systems.

About you:

You are a well-organised and adaptable professional with strong knowledge of records management principles, legislation, and systems. With excellent communication skills, you can confidently engage with a broad range of stakeholders, translating complex compliance requirements into clear, accessible guidance.

You enjoy problem-solving, are proactive in identifying improvements, and bring strong attention to detail to everything you do. You value collaboration and take pride in contributing to a well-governed, secure, and effective information environment.

You will possess:

  • A relevant qualification in information management or a related field, or equivalent experience;
  • Sound understanding of records management legislation, standards, and practices;
  • Experience with enterprise records management systems and providing user support;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to develop plain-language guidance and training materials;
  • The ability to engage with diverse stakeholders and work effectively both independently and as part of a team; and
  • Strong digital literacy, particularly within a Microsoft 365 environment.
