The Opportunity

You’ll play a pivotal role in shaping the future of public health through innovative teaching, impactful research, and meaningful engagement. In this role, you’ll design and deliver contemporary health promotion curricula that equips graduates to tackle complex health challenges and drive positive change in communities. By supervising and mentoring students, you’ll inspire the next generation of health promotion professionals to design, implement, and evaluate initiatives that advance health equity and wellbeing. Your research will align with the School’s priorities, focusing on health equity, community wellbeing, and the socio-ecological determinants of health, while your collaborations with industry, government, and community partners will strengthen connections that benefit students, the University, and society.

About you:

As an inspiring and passionate educator, you create inclusive and engaging learning environments where students are motivated to excel. With deep subject expertise, strong communication skills, and a collaborative approach, you design meaningful learning experiences that spark curiosity and build confidence. Dedicated to student success, you continually refine your teaching practice, embrace innovative approaches, and contribute to a supportive, high-performing academic community.

You will possess:

  • Completion or near-completion of a doctoral qualification in a relevant health promotion field or equivalent accreditation and standing;
  • Effectiveness as a teacher, which is evidenced by:
    • student feedback on teaching using valid instrument/s, peer review and/or student outcomes, and
    • the capacity to conceive, develop and deliver higher education curricula and contribute to relevant areas of teaching.
  • Evidence of research experience, including for example, refereed publications; participation in research teams; co-supervision of candidates for honours and higher degrees by research;
  • Membership of and sound connections with relevant professional bodies and community groups and/or in professional practice;
  • Strong personal qualities and collegial approaches that contribute to the development and maintenance of a positive academic environment which is conducive to high levels of engagement and standards of achievement for both staff and students; and
  • Evidence of participation in academic development activities and the desire to continue to learn and improve as an effective academic.
Desirable
  • Experience undertaking academic administrative functions, e.g. course coordination, within a University.
  • Professional health promotion practice experience.
