The Opportunity

Join UniSC’s Financial Services team and play a key role in delivering quality financial advice and support across the University. In this varied and collaborative role, you’ll work across core finance functions, such as accounts payable and receivable, taxation, travel, insurance, and contract administration, helping to keep things running smoothly during peak times or staff absences. With a strong service focus, you’ll partner with colleagues across the Financial Services team and wider University to resolve financial queries and contribute to efficient, compliant operations.

You will

  • assist with the effective and efficient execution of core financial functions and transactional processing, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, taxation, corporate cards, insurance and travel, by adhering to internal controls, university policies, and external legislative requirements. This includes timely processing, reconciliation, and reporting to support the University's financial integrity and statutory obligations;
  • assist with financial operations queries across the University, delivering accurate, timely, and customer-focused advice and support. This includes training stakeholders, resolving financial issues, and contributing to a culture of financial literacy and accountability; and
  • assist with the ongoing enhancement of financial operations, processes, and service delivery by identifying opportunities for improvement, ensuring compliance with best practices, and supporting the implementation of streamlined, efficient workflows across the Financial Services function.

About you

You're detail-oriented and accurate in everything you do, with strong time management skills that help you juggle competing priorities and shifting deadlines with ease. You bring excellent communication and relationship-building skills to every client interaction and handle confidential information with care and professionalism. With a natural problem-solving mindset, you're focused on delivering practical, client-friendly solutions that also meet compliance requirements.

You will possess:

  • Completion of a diploma or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training in an account’s environment, including taxation requirements, and general ledger reconciliation;
  • Computer literacy including sound experience using accounting software and the Microsoft Suite;
  • Sound understanding of GST and FBT legislation, with the ability to interpret, apply, and communicate tax-related advice in a clear and compliant manner; and
  • A flexible approach with the ability to work in a team environment or independently.

Desirable:

  • Relevant experience in the higher education sector and knowledge of sector issues that may impact the strategic directions of the University.
  • Knowledge and experience with travel systems and the travel industry to support sourcing and processing of bookings for corporate travel.
  • Previous experience with University enterprise systems particularly:
    • Finance – Technology One CiA
    • Online Payments - Xetta
