Overview

The In-Country Representative (Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos) serves as UniSC’s in-market representative across Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos, supporting the University’s international student recruitment, partnership development and market engagement activities.

Acting as a visible ambassador for UniSC, the role promotes the University’s programs, values and student experience while strengthening relationships with prospective students, education agents, schools, institutional partners and other key stakeholders.

Working closely with the International Business Development Manager, the In-Country Representative supports the implementation of UniSC’s international recruitment and market development strategy across the region. The role contributes local market knowledge, delivers agreed recruitment and engagement activities, and supports the achievement of international student recruitment objectives.

The successful candidate will act on behalf of UniSC in the designated markets and will be expected to represent the University professionally and consistently in all interactions. The role is dedicated to advancing UniSC’s strategic objectives and enhancing the University’s profile across Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos.

While the successful candidate will work exclusively in support of UniSC’s international recruitment and engagement objectives, their employment will be facilitated through an Employer of Record (EOR) arrangement administered by Remote and governed by applicable local employment laws and regulations.

Working closely with UniSC’s International Business Development Manager, the In-Country Representative supports the delivery of agreed recruitment, stakeholder engagement and market development activities across Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos.

The role requires a high degree of professionalism, self-management and accountability in planning and delivering in-market activities, supporting prospective students and providing market intelligence to inform UniSC’s international operations.

The In-Country Representative operates as UniSC’s local presence within the region and is expected to exercise sound judgement, initiative and cultural awareness when representing the University and engaging with external stakeholders.

The role requires autonomy in managing priorities and delivering outcomes while maintaining alignment with UniSC strategy, compliance requirements and reporting obligations.

Services and deliverables

Services and deliverables for this role include:

  1. Recruitment and Market engagement
    ·     Contribute to the implementation, monitoring and reporting of UniSC’s international regional plan for Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos.
    ·     Execute agreed recruitment, engagement and market development activities in line with regional priorities and strategic objectives.
    ·     Identify and support opportunities to expand UniSC’s presence, partnerships and recruitment channels across Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos and broader Southeast Asia, including education agents, institutional partnerships and transnational engagement. 
    ·     Provide market intelligence including student demand, competitor activity, regulatory developments and emerging opportunities to inform recruitment planning and decision-making.
    ·     Demonstrate cultural awareness and sensitivity when representing UniSC across diverse markets and stakeholder groups. 
  2. Student recruitment and Conversion
    ·     Represent UniSC at recruitment events, exhibitions, institutional visits, information sessions and other promotional activities, both in-person and virtually. 
    ·     Deliver presentations and information sessions to prospective students, schools, agents and partner organisations. 
    ·     Respond to prospective student enquiries and provide accurate information regarding UniSC programs, admission requirements, application processes and study pathways. 
    ·     Maintain ongoing engagement with prospective students and applicants to support conversion from enquiry through to enrolment. 
    ·     Undertake targeted follow-up activities aligned with recruitment campaigns, priority intakes and regional objectives. 
  3. Stakeholder and Partner engagement
    ·     Serve as UniSC’s key in-country contact across Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos, fostering productive relationships with education agents, schools, pathway providers and other stakeholders. 
    ·     Coordinate and deliver partner briefings, training sessions and updates to support effective promotion of UniSC programs and opportunities. 
    ·     Provide timely advice and support to agents and partners, including assistance with application-related enquiries and issue resolution. 
    ·     Monitor stakeholder engagement and performance and provide feedback to support continuous improvement and growth. 
  4. Student pipeline support and Reporting
    ·     Support management of the student recruitment pipeline, ensuring timely communication, follow-up and progression of prospective students and applicants. 
    ·     Reinforce application deadlines, documentation requirements and key decision points with prospective students and recruitment partners. 
    ·     Monitor application activity and identify cases requiring additional support, intervention or escalation. 
    ·     Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of recruitment activity, stakeholder engagement, student enquiries and applications within UniSC systems. 
    ·     Provide regular activity reports, market updates and pipeline insights to the International Business Development Manager. 
  5. Operational Support and Event Delivery
    ·     Coordinate and support the delivery of recruitment events, partner visits, institutional engagements and other in-market activities. 
    ·     Manage logistics and administrative requirements associated with recruitment and stakeholder engagement activities. 
    ·     Deliver agreed activities within established timelines and in accordance with approved regional plans and budgets. 
  6. Compliance and Governance
    ·     Ensure all recruitment, marketing and stakeholder engagement activities are conducted in accordance with UniSC policies, procedures and strategic objectives. 
    ·     Maintain the confidentiality, integrity and security of student, partner and University information, ensuring compliance with applicable privacy legislation, data protection requirements and University policies. 
    ·     Comply with relevant legislative and regulatory requirements, including the Education Services for Overseas Students (ESOS) Act, the National Code and Genuine Student (GS) requirements. 
    ·     Support adherence to university agent management practices and maintain appropriate records to satisfy compliance, reporting and audit requirements. 
    ·     Identify and escalate risks, compliance concerns or irregular activity to the International Business Development Manager. 
  7. General Responsibilities
    ·     Maintain a current understanding of UniSC programs, policies, strategic priorities and student experience to ensure accurate and consistent representation of the University. 
    ·     Use UniSC systems, information and resources responsibly and maintain accurate records to support operational effectiveness, compliance and reporting requirements. 
    ·     Exercise sound judgement, initiative and effective time management to achieve agreed objectives and deliverables. 
    ·     Work flexibly, including outside local business hours where required, to support recruitment activities across multiple time zones and peak operational periods. 
    ·     Undertake other duties, projects and activities as reasonably requested by the International Business Development Manager. 
    ·     Support recruitment and engagement activities outside the primary regional portfolio as required. 
    ·     Regular travel within Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos, and occasional travel to other Southeast Asian locations, may be required. 
    ·     Periodic travel to Australia may be required to support planning activities, training and team engagement. 

Selection Criteria

Applicants should meet the following knowledge, skills and experience:

  1. A degree qualification with relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and professional expertise. 
  2. Demonstrated specialist knowledge and practical experience in international student recruitment, admissions and marketing practices, with the ability to interpret and apply relevant institutional, government and regulatory requirements. 
  3. Demonstrated ability to identify and pursue recruitment opportunities while building effective relationships with diverse stakeholders across international and cross-cultural environments. 
  4. Demonstrated ability to contribute effectively to multi-channel and digital marketing and recruitment activities, including nurture marketing and market-specific recruitment plans. 
  5. Proven ability to meet deadlines, achieve targets and resolve issues with minimal supervision, demonstrating initiative, accountability and self-motivation. 
  6. Demonstrated proficiency in customer relationship management (CRM) systems and other business technologies, including the ability to maintain accurate records and ensure data quality, integrity and compliance with privacy obligations. 
  7. Demonstrated commitment to ethical conduct, professionalism and integrity, including the ability to exercise sound judgement, maintain confidentiality, and handle sensitive information in accordance with privacy, data protection and organisational requirements. 
  8. Demonstrated ability to identify emerging issues, operational risks or stakeholder concerns and escalate matters appropriately to support effective decision-making. 
  9. Demonstrated ability to build credibility, influence and trust with external stakeholders while working independently and representing an organisation in a remote, internationally dispersed environment.
  10. Fluency in Vietnamese, or another language relevant to the regions of responsibility, will be highly regarded. (Desireable)
