The Opportunity

Join UniSC and play a key role in shaping the future of our financial systems. You’ll provide strategic and operational support to the Financial Systems and Financial Services teams, leading system enhancements, workflow improvements, and reporting initiatives that drive efficiency and align with the University’s strategic goals. Collaborating across finance, you’ll manage change, ensure compliance, and deliver projects on time while fostering innovation, continuous improvement, and a user-focused approach within Financial Services.

You will

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of financial system process improvement initiatives that align with the University’s strategic vision and objectives, with a primary focus on enhancing financial operational efficiency and user experience;
  • Assess and evaluate current financial processes against evolving business needs to identify opportunities for optimisation, increased automation, and more effective use of technology within Financial Services; and
  • Responsible for Partnering with finance and technical teams to support the configuration, testing, and deployment of system improvements, including integrations, workflows, and budgeting & reporting solutions that enhance the end-to-end Financial Operations ecosystem.

About you

You’re a proactive and solutions-focused professional with experience driving continuous improvement or managing projects in large organisations, particularly within technology or finance teams. You communicate with confidence, build strong relationships, and influence outcomes to deliver results. Highly organised and adaptable, you thrive juggling multiple priorities and competing deadlines, working seamlessly both independently and as a collaborative team player to achieve impactful outcomes.

You will possess:

  • Completion of a relevant degree with at least four years relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience;
  • A detailed knowledge and experience of computerised financial systems and operations, including accounting administration and compliance requirements in a higher education environment;
  • Advanced application knowledge, skills and highly developed computer literacy including the ability to use databases, TechnologyOne and Microsoft applications such as Sharepoint, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, the internet;
  • Experience with accounting standards, statements of accounting concepts, audit requirements, financial control, taxation, reporting and funding, particularly in a higher education environment;
  • Experience in the development and implementation of new financial policies and practices, with well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills and the capability to reengineer business processes that are easily managed and sustained; and
  • Effective change management skillset to lead business areas and teams through change that will directly enhance the operational efficiency of the business.

Desirable:

  • Qualified member of CPA Australia (or equivalent).
  • Previous experience with University enterprise systems particularly:
    • Finance – Technology One CiA
    • Receipting – Xetta (Unilink / Onestop)
    • Business analytics and report writing tools
