The Opportunity

Are you ready to play a key role in safeguarding a vibrant and innovative university community? As Security Systems Officer, you will be responsible for administering, maintaining, and optimising UniSC’s electronic and physical security systems across all campuses. Working closely with the Coordinator, Security, you’ll ensure the reliable performance of UniSC’s Gallagher access control, Avigilon CCTV, and related security technologies.

You will lead the coordination of maintenance contractors, oversee hard key management, and deliver user training to support effective, compliant, and consistent security operations. This role is both technically hands-on and strategically focused, supporting projects that enhance safety, efficiency, and the overall campus experience.

You will

  • administer and maintain UniSC’s Gallagher access control, Avigilon CCTV, and related security systems to ensure consistent, reliable operation;
  • coordinate hard key management, contractor performance, and system maintenance, supporting high standards of service delivery and compliance; and
  • provide training and technical support to internal users, contributing to a culture of safety, awareness, and continuous improvement.

About you

You are a technically skilled and solutions-focused professional with a strong understanding of electronic security systems. Your analytical mindset and attention to detail enable you to troubleshoot complex issues, optimise performance, and deliver practical solutions. You communicate effectively, work collaboratively with stakeholders, and demonstrate a commitment to safety, integrity, and service excellence.

You will possess:

  • relevant tertiary qualifications or an equivalent combination of experience and training in electronic security systems, IT networks, or physical security infrastructure;
  • demonstrated hands-on experience with Gallagher access control and Avigilon CCTV systems (or comparable platforms);
  • experience with hard key management, physical security infrastructure, and application of CPTED principles;
  • strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to optimise system performance and support operational service delivery;
  • excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with security staff, contractors, and internal clients; and
  • understanding of privacy, data protection, and physical security compliance requirements within a public or higher education environment.

Desirable:

  • current Security Licence (Class 2 or equivalent) and/or Certificate III in Security Operations; and
  • current Advanced First Aid, CPR and AED certification.
