The Opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity for a teaching-focused academic to join UniSC’s established Bachelor of Paramedicine program and play a key role in preparing the next generation of registered paramedics. As a Lecturer in Paramedicine, you will deliver engaging, contemporary teaching across the SC306 program, using your paramedicine expertise to create authentic learning experiences across classroom, simulation and practical settings. You will support students to build the knowledge, skills and confidence needed to become successful, job-ready graduates.

You will also contribute to innovative work-integrated learning opportunities that connect students with diverse healthcare settings and the realities of contemporary paramedic practice, including regional and rural experiences. Working collaboratively with colleagues, industry and professional partners, you will help strengthen student outcomes while contributing to the School of Health’s teaching, scholarship, research and engagement activities.

You will:

  • Deliver high-quality, contemporary teaching across the Bachelor of Paramedicine, creating engaging learning experiences across classroom, simulation, practical and online environments;
  • Develop and enhance curricula, assessment and learning activities that connect academic learning with contemporary paramedic practice and support students to become confident, job-ready graduates;
  • Contribute to high-quality work-integrated learning opportunities, including regional and rural experiences, while building meaningful relationships with industry, professional and community partners; and
  • Contribute to scholarship, research and academic activities within the School of Health, supporting student success and the continued development of the Paramedicine discipline.

About you:

You will be a passionate and student-focused Paramedicine educator with contemporary disciplinary expertise and a genuine commitment to preparing graduates for professional practice. You will bring strong communication and interpersonal skills, an engaging approach to teaching, and the ability to connect academic learning with authentic paramedic practice.

You will be confident working with students across diverse learning environments and committed to creating inclusive, practical and engaging learning experiences. You will value collaboration and bring an ability to build productive relationships with colleagues, industry and professional partners. Your commitment to ongoing professional development and contemporary paramedicine practice will support your contribution to student success and the broader academic community.

You will possess:

  • Completion of a relevant degree, postgraduate qualifications as well as registration with the Paramedicine Board of Australia;
  • Effectiveness as a teacher, which is evidenced by:
    • student feedback on teaching using valid instrument/s, peer review and/or student outcomes, and
    • the capacity to conceive, develop and deliver higher education curricula and contribute to relevant areas of teaching;
  • Membership of and sound connections with relevant professional bodies and community groups and/or experience in professional practice;
  • Strong personal qualities and collegial approaches that contribute to the development and maintenance of a positive academic environment which is conducive to high levels of engagement and standards of achievement for both staff and students; and
  • Evidence of participation in academic development activities and the desire to continue to learn and improve as an effective academic.

Desirable

  • Willingness to enrol or enrolment in a Higher Degree by Research in a relevant field;
  • Experience undertaking academic administrative functions, e.g. course coordination within a University; and
  • Experience in clinical placement.
