The Opportunity

We are seeking a Lecturer in Nutrition and Dietetics to join our dynamic team, dedicated to making a substantial impact on teaching, research, and community involvement in the field. You will work collaboratively with nutrition and dietetics staff to deliver courses within the existing discipline programs of Bachelor of Nutrition and Bachelor of Dietetics (Honours), and the new Master of Dietetics (Sports Nutrition) at Moreton Bay campus. Alongside developing a promising research portfolio, you will forge valuable partnerships with industry and community stakeholders, enriching the learning experience for our students and fostering connections that benefit both the community and UniSC.

You will:

• contribute to learning and teaching practices within the nutrition and dietetics discipline;
• undertake high-impact research;
• supervise honours students and HDR candidates; 
• play a part in successful research grant applications; and 
• contribute to governance, coordination of and participation in the school capacity-building activities, and activities that contribute to the student experience.

About you:

Our ideal candidate will possess expertise in nutrition and dietetics, strong pedagogical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a genuine enthusiasm for teaching and learning. They will prioritise students' needs, employ innovative teaching methods, and demonstrate a commitment to creating an engaging learning environment. This entails a comprehensive grasp of pedagogical principles and instructional strategies, utilising effective teaching techniques to improve student outcomes. You will cultivate a supportive learning atmosphere, maintain discipline, and promote a positive learning environment. Additionally, you will excel in assessment and feedback, designing fair evaluations to gauge student progress and identify areas for development. Adaptability and flexibility are crucial, as you will tailor your approach to accommodate diverse learning needs and changing educational trends based on student feedback. Finally, a dedication to continuous professional development is essential, actively seeking opportunities for growth, attending workshops, conferences, and engaging in research to remain current in the field.

You will possess:

• completion or near-completion of a doctoral qualification in a relevant field or equivalent accreditation and standing;
• full membership of Dietitians Australia and eligibility for the Accredited Practising Dietitian program, and/or full membership of the Nutrition Society of Australia;
• proven track record as an effective teacher, the capacity to conceive, develop and deliver higher education curricula and contribute to relevant areas of teaching;
• membership and sound connections with relevant professional bodies and community groups;
• sound and established track record of research activity commensurate with the level of the position; and
• evidence of participation in academic development activities and the desire to continue to learn and improve as an effective academic.

Desirable

• participation and success in academic administrative functions e.g. program coordination, within a University.
• provisional or accredited sports dietitian recognised by Sports Dietitians Australia.
