The Opportunity

Shape the next generation of clinical exercise physiologists in this teaching-focused role at UniSC. You will deliver engaging, high-quality learning experiences while drawing on your clinical expertise to create meaningful, real-world connections for students. With a strong background in clinical exercise physiology, you will also build productive industry and community partnerships that enhance student outcomes and contribute to community impact. We are particularly interested in candidates with teaching expertise in exercise for musculoskeletal conditions, exercise oncology, diverse populations, or multi-morbidity and complex case management.

You will:

• Deliver high-quality, contemporary teaching through curriculum design, innovative delivery, student support, and effective assessment practices;
• Maintain discipline expertise and continuously improve teaching through scholarship, professional development, and use of learning technologies;
• Contribute to research by developing expertise, participating in projects, publishing outcomes, and supporting grant activity;
• Build and maintain strong industry, community, and academic partnerships to enhance learning, research, and broader engagement; and
• Foster a positive, inclusive, and high-performing academic environment while contributing to university service and administrative activities.

About you:

You are an engaging, student-focused academic with experience teaching and supervising students in exercise science or clinical exercise physiology. You demonstrate a strong record of effective teaching, evidenced by positive student outcomes and your ability to design and deliver contemporary, high-quality curricula. You bring research experience through publications, collaboration within research teams, and involvement in student supervision. You maintain strong connections with industry and community partners and actively contribute to professional engagement in the field. Your collaborative and collegial approach supports a positive academic culture, and you are committed to enhancing student success and learning outcomes.

You will possess:

• Completion or near-completion of a doctoral qualification in a relevant field or equivalent accreditation and standing;
• Current accreditation as an Exercise Physiologist with Exercise and Sports Science Australia (ESSA);
• Experience in developing, managing and supervising student practicums for exercise science and clinical exercise physiology;
• Effectiveness as a teacher, which is evidenced by:
  • student feedback on teaching using valid instrument/s, peer review and/or student outcomes, and
  • the capacity to conceive, develop and deliver higher education curricula and contribute to relevant areas of teaching.
• Evidence of research experience, including for example, refereed publications; participation in research teams; co-supervision of candidates for honours and higher degrees by research;
• Membership of and sound connections with relevant professional bodies and community groups and/or in professional practice;
• Evidence of participation in academic development activities and the desire to continue to learn and improve as an effective academic; and
• Experience undertaking academic administrative functions, e.g. course coordination, within a University.
