The Opportunity

Join UniSC as a Health, Safety and Wellbeing Business Partner, providing specialist advice and practical solutions that support a safe, healthy and inclusive workplace. As a member of a collaborative Health, Safety and Wellbeing team, you will work closely with the Head of HSW and colleagues across the University. You’ll help shape best-practice strategies, coordinate approaches to managing psychosocial hazards and contribute to continuous improvement in health, safety and wellbeing. It’s an opportunity to build strong partnerships and help create a culture where our people feel safe, supported and able to thrive.

You will

  • identify emerging health, safety and wellbeing risks and work with stakeholders to develop practical, preventative solutions;
  • provide trusted advice, analysis and recommendations that support informed decisions and positive HSW outcomes;
  • deliver priority projects that advance the University’s Health, Safety and Wellbeing operational plan; and
  • build HSW capability across the University, empowering stakeholders to create a safe, healthy and inclusive workplace.

About you

Our ideal candidate brings strong technical knowledge of health and safety, along with the confidence to turn legislation and best practice into practical solutions that make a real difference. You’re a thoughtful problem-solver who can investigate incidents, identify opportunities for improvement and build trusted relationships across our University community. With your ability to lead projects, strengthen systems and bring people along with you, you’ll help build a culture where safety, respect, inclusion and wellbeing are part of how we work and learn every day.

You will possess:

  • An undergraduate qualification or progress towards one in work health and safety, or a combination of relevant qualifications, training and experience.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships and deliver positive HSW outcomes.
  • Sound knowledge of work health and safety legislation and its application in a university environment, including experience in hazard identification, risk assessment and incident investigation.
