Casual staff – Library Services

Casual Student Library Assistant:

Position description:

  • Deliver frontline library services to assist students, staff and community in locating and accessing library resources, including books, journals, and online guides.
  • Maintain the library's collections, ensuring resources are current, organised, and easily accessible.
  • Offer technology support for library users, including assistance with digital resources, library software, and equipment.
  • Participate in outreach activities to promote library services and resources to the university community.

Desirable skills and qualifications:

  • Current UniSC student (undergraduate or postgraduate), with at least 12 months remaining in their studies.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer focused approach to service delivery.
  • Proficiency in using technology (Microsoft applications desirable).

Casual Client Services Assistant:

Position description:

  • Assist students, staff, and clients in locating and accessing library resources, including books, journals, and online databases, in-person and online.
  • Provide reference and information support and guidance, helping users develop effective search strategies and utilise library tools.
  • Maintain the library's collections, ensuring resources are current, organised, and easily accessible.
  • Offer technology support for library users, including assistance with digital resources, library software, and equipment.
  • Conduct library orientation sessions and workshops to educate users on available services and resources.
  • Participate in outreach activities to promote library services and resources to the university community.

Desirable skills and qualifications:

  • Experience/qualification in library services or information management.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer focused approach to service delivery.
  • Proficiency in using library management systems, online databases, and digital resources.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
