The Opportunity

In this role, you will lead the design and delivery of accessible digital and physical learning environments, ensuring all students can engage equitably through best practice accessibility standards (WCAG) and Universal Design for Learning principles. You will assess, procure and implement assistive technologies, deliver training to students and staff, and partner closely with Student Services, IT, C-Salt and academic teams to embed inclusive design across systems and platforms. This is your opportunity to drive meaningful, system-wide change and ensure our learning environments are accessible, innovative and student-centred.

The position focuses on systemic accessibility, capability development, and evidence-informed service improvement, ensuring that digital and physical learning environments, teaching practices, and institutional platforms align with legislative requirements, Universal Design principles, and UniSC’s Disability Access and Inclusion Plan (DAIP).

You will

  • ensure students with disability, mental health conditions, or neurodivergence can equitably access digital and physical learning environments, including through appropriate assistive and accessible technologies;
  • build capability across students and staff in the effective use of accessibility tools, inclusive technologies, and universal design practices that support academic participation and success; and
  • lead the coordination, governance, and continuous improvement of accessibility-related technologies and resources, ensuring alignment with legislation, standards, and emerging best practice

About you

You are a confident and empathetic communicator with experience delivering effective assistive technology solutions for people with disability. You use strong critical thinking and data insights to inform recommendations, purchasing and service design. Comfortable working independently or collaboratively, you prioritise effectively and deliver high-quality outcomes. Most importantly, you are committed to inclusive practice and building strong, trusted relationships with students and staff.

You will possess:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in the provision of assistive technology support to people with a disability
  • Experience in delivering assistive technology applications and solutions that address the diverse needs of students or people with a disability
  • Ability to apply critical thinking and data analysis skills to make informed recommendations for assistive technology purchase and implementation
  • Proven ability to work independently or collaboratively, deliver solutions, use initiative, and prioritise tasks to meet deadlines
  • Experience in supporting the delivery of services to people with diverse needs
  • Demonstrated ability to work constructively as a member of a team and to initiate, develop and negotiate effective relationships with clients, including staff and students
  • Demonstrated ability to draw on data insights to inform reporting and service design
