The Opportunity

The Centre for Learning and Teaching (CLT) provides strategic leadership for learning and teaching excellence across UniSC, partnering with Schools and professional services to enhance educational quality and deliver exceptional student outcomes. Reporting to the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Education), this influential leadership position will drive UniSC's education transformation agenda, shaping the future of curriculum, assessment, academic integrity and teaching innovation across the University.

As Academic Director & Head of Education Transformation, you will lead strategic initiatives that strengthen academic quality, build educator capability, and enhance the student learning experience. Working collaboratively with senior academic and professional leaders, you will champion contemporary, evidence-informed educational practices and ensure UniSC remains at the forefront of higher education innovation.

You will:

• lead UniSC’s education transformation agenda, shaping institutional strategy and providing expert advice on learning, teaching, academic quality and governance;
• drive innovation and quality in education, advancing curriculum design, assessment, academic integrity, teaching practice and continuous improvement frameworks;
• build capability and foster excellence, leading professional development initiatives, mentoring multidisciplinary teams and cultivating a collaborative, high-performing culture; and
• strengthen partnerships and future-focused learning, collaborating with schools and stakeholders, representing UniSC in external networks, and leveraging emerging trends in higher education and educational technology to enhance student success and graduate outcomes.

About you:

You are an accomplished academic leader with a strong reputation for advancing learning and teaching excellence within higher education. Comfortable operating at both strategic and operational levels, you bring the credibility, influence and vision required to lead complex education transformation initiatives and inspire change across a diverse university community.

You have a proven ability to build partnerships, influence senior stakeholders and create environments where innovation, collaboration and excellence thrive. Passionate about student success and educational impact, you are motivated by the opportunity to shape the future of learning at an institution committed to transformative education.

You will possess:

•  A doctoral qualification in a relevant discipline and substantial experience in senior academic leadership.
• Demonstrated success leading education transformation, curriculum innovation and assessment enhancement initiatives.
• A distinguished record of teaching excellence and leadership in learning and teaching.
• Evidence of leading research-informed approaches that improve educational quality and student outcomes.
• A strong Scholarship of Learning and Teaching (SoTL) profile, including research outputs, impact and external recognition.
• Experience mentoring and developing academic capability and fostering cultures of continuous improvement.
• Extensive experience in academic governance, quality assurance and university administration.
• Outstanding stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to develop productive regional, national and international partnerships.
• The capacity to influence institutional strategy and lead change across complex organisational environments.
• A collaborative and inclusive leadership style that aligns with UniSC's values of integrity, community and sustainability.
