UniSC is dedicated to providing both a world-class education for our students and a nurturing environment for our employees. In a conversation with Azeem, a curriculum support business analyst within the Center for Support and Advancement of Learning and Teaching, we heard about his experiences working at UniSC.

Learning curves

With a background in information technology, Azeem decided to branch out and bring his skills to the field of higher education. The transition from an IT background to working in the education sector was a significant leap, one that opened Azeem's eyes to the unique challenges of delivering tertiary education.

"You don't realise how much information and knowledge goes into bringing education to life -the past year and a half at UniSC has been a learning opportunity for me," he says.

Azeems says he admires the collaborative nature of UniSC's work culture. "There are a lot of university resources available, and people are always helpful in answering questions," he says.

It’s an environment where ideas flow freely, fostering innovation and growth. Transitioning from a different work culture, Azeem found UniSC's work culture to be exceptionally accommodating.

"My first opportunity to enter an Australian workforce was here,” he says.

“People are exceptionally welcoming, and there's a learning curve that includes different university work. You feel a strong sense of community.”

UniSC's unique landscape

The unique natural landscapes on which UniSC’s campuses sit, helps to foster a healthy work-life balance for Azeem.

"The wonderful natural environments of the UniSC campuses promotes a healthy work-life balance

UniSC is in fact the world’s only university operating within the same regions with three interconnecting UNESCO Biosphere Reserves, which gives us a unique opportunity to live, work and play on some of the world’s most important ecological landscapes.

Inspiring excellence

As Azeem reflects on his career at UniSC, he says he’s excited about the University's commitment to staying agile and meeting the demands of modern education.

"The University is doing an incredible amount of workto keep up with the pace and deliver what is required for students' success," he says.
